Environment and device targeting

Overview

You can target environments and devices to control where your ads are displayed. This type of targeting allows you to reach users based on the environments they operate in and the devices they use.

For environment targeting, you can choose to target either all inventory or only Open Measurement SDK (OM SDK) inventory. OM SDK is an IAB standard that enables third-party viewability and verification vendors to measure web video and mobile in-app ads.

Publishers choose to comply with the OM SDK because it is easy to integrate into their systems. When publishers are compliant with the OM SDK API, Equativ receives a signal indicating this compliance and then passes this information to DSPs. The actual measurement of ad viewability and verification is carried out by third-party ad measurement services using OMID API, which is part of the OM SDK. 

Access

To access environment/device targeting, select Media Planning from the navigation menu. The environment/device targeting options will appear in the Inventory section of the Targeting panel. You can also access environment/device targeting directly from the line item page. For more information, see Create line item: targeting.

Configure environment/device targeting

To configure environment/device targeting, follow these steps:

  1. In the Targeting section, expand the Inventory tab.
  2. In the Environment section, select to target either All Inventory or Open Measurement SDK (OM SDK) Inventory
  3. Select environment types: Web, Mobile web, or App
  4. In the Device section, select device types: Desktop, Tablet, Smartphone, Smart TV, Set-top box, Gaming console, or Other devices
