Set up Video Ad Exchange: authorized partners
This article aims at providing information on Equativ’s authorized partners within the VEX product. Equativ is bound by European privacy and data protection laws which require certain mechanisms to be in place whenever an international data transfer occurs. At this time, the following partners are covered by a legal transfer mechanism, in compliance with the GDPR’s requirements on data transfer outside of the European Economic Area (“EEA”):
- Ad Planning
- Adform
- IndexExchange
- Magnite
- Orka TV
- Pubmatic
- RTL Ad Alliance
- Sharethrough
- Triplelift
- Verve Group (Smaato)
If you wish to work with a specific SSP that is not yet on this list, please contact privacy@equativ.com. Equativ will make its best effort to add new compliant partners to this list.
Data transfers in Video Ad Exchange
In Equativ’s Video Ad Exchange offer, third party SSPs (Partners) are integrated with a VAST tag which calls the Partner to retrieve an ad. In such integrations, data transfers of personal data outside of the EEA may occur whenever Equativ transfers personal data to Partners located outside the EEA. Therefore, campaign managers are responsible to only integrate Partners covered by a legal transfer mechanism (see list of Partners in section “Standard Contractual Clauses with Partners” below). Integrating a VAST tag calling a SSP that is not on this list is in violation of the GDPR and in breach of Equativ’s contracts!
About data transfers
Under the GDPR, the European privacy legislation, any transfer of personal data from the EEA to a third country (other than an EEA member state) has to be covered by a legal transfer mechanism. A transfer of personal data occurs when:
- the data controller/processor is subject to the GDPR for the given processing of personal data - and
- this controller or processor discloses by transmission or otherwise makes personal data available to another organization, i. e. to another data controller/processor - and
- this other organization is in a country outside the EEA.
Standard Contractual Clauses with Partners
To comply with the GDPR’s requirements, Equativ signs so-called Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) with Partners that are located outside the EEA and involved in the transfer of personal data from the EEA to third countries. These model contract clauses are “pre-approved” by the European Commission and therefore serve as appropriate data protection safeguards for the data transfers.
