Monitor direct insertions
Overview
The Monitoring section on the Insertion list page lets you get a cross-campaign view of all insertions in your network and monitor their delivery behavior.
Access
In the navigation menu, select Campaigns > Insertions to access the Monitoring section on the Insertion list page.
Delivery column
The Delivery column displays a progress bar showing the delivery progress of an insertion to date. The color indicates the insertion's pacing status—a visual signal showing whether delivery is on track, ahead, at risk or late.
Based on this information, you can make adjustments to the parameters of the insertion or its competing insertions.
Progress bar
The progress bar displays the delivery status with the following components:
-
Colored vs. grey section: Represents the delivered vs. remaining volume.
-
Insertions with Even delivery mode: The colored section shows the delivered volume in the color of the current pacing status (for example, yellow for At risk or Ahead). For more information, see “Pacing statuses”.
The grey section shows the volume needed to reach the goal volume. -
Insertions with Asap delivery mode: The colored section shows the delivered volume, in blue.
The grey section shows the volume needed to reach the total volume.
-
Insertions with Even delivery mode: The colored section shows the delivered volume in the color of the current pacing status (for example, yellow for At risk or Ahead). For more information, see “Pacing statuses”.
- Grey tick mark: Shows the ideal delivered volume at this point, for insertions with Even delivery mode. It is hidden for Asap insertions and for insertions that are Terminated or Archived.

Popover with details
Hover over the progress bar to see these details:
- Goal volume type: For example, Impressions
- Delivery mode: Even or Asap
- Pacing status: Ahead, On track, At risk, or Late. For more information, see “Pacing statuses”.
- Current: Volume delivered to date. Shows a dash if the count is 0.
- Expected: Volume that should have been delivered to date. Shows a dash if the count is 0.
- Pacing ratio: Delivered volume to date (Current) divided by the expected volume to date (Expected). For more information, see “Pacing statuses”.

The popover changes in these cases:
- Asap delivery mode: The pacing ratio, pacing status, and Expected volume are hidden.
- Terminated or Archived insertion: The pacing ratio, pacing status, and Expected volume are hidden.
- Insertion not started yet: The pacing ratio, pacing status, and Expected volume are hidden.
- Insertion started less than one day ago: The pacing status is hidden.
- Insertion without a goal volume: The entire popover is hidden.
Pacing statuses
| Pacing status | Pacing ratio range | Color |
|---|---|---|
| Ahead | 1.1 and above | Yellow |
| On track | 1.0 to under 1.1 | Green |
| At risk | 0.9 to under 1.0 | Yellow |
| Late | Under 0.9 | Red |
Insertions with the delivery mode Even start 5% overpaced and slow down near the end to hit the goal volume. This buffer protects against inventory shortages.
To display all critical, guaranteed (High and Normal priority) insertions ending soon at the top of the list, apply the following filter and sorting settings:
- Pacing ratio status filter: select Late and At risk
- Priority filter: select Normal and High
- Period column: sort ascending (earliest end dates first)
Competing insertions
If you identify a critical insertion that is at risk of falling short of its goal volume, switch to the Forecasting tab and select the critical insertion from the Competing with dropdown menu. The list will then display all insertions competing with this insertion.
For more information, see “Competing insertion forecast” in Create direct insertion: forecast.
