Set up and manage in-app SDK mediation

Overview

The Equativ SDK supports ad mediation for the ad networks.

For detailed instructions, follow these resources:

To use in-app SDK mediation, you need to have an account with the individual ad networks.

How it works

The Equativ SDK has technical adapters to support each of the ad networks. When the application is launched, the Equativ SDK searches for the SDKs of the ad networks, verifying if the according libraries are imported in the application project. The list of available mediation SDKs is included in every ad request to Equativ. In its response, Equativ returns a list of up to four mediation ads and one non-mediation ad.

Selection of mediation ads

Equativ maximizes revenue using a client-side passback feature, which works as follows:

  1. Equativ sends a list of up to four mediation ads and one non-mediation ad. The limitation of up to four mediation ads is necessary since there is a more global timeout of the SDK: when four networks did not respond, the timeout stops the selection process.
  2. The mediation ads are selected based on the priority specified in the mediation ad insertions.
  3. Mediation ads are selected following the waterfall principle: when the first mediation network does not respond, the next network is called.
  4. If none of the mediation networks responded, the non-mediation insertion is selected as a final backfill.

When using mediation, the Equativ backend will count only impressions. Other metrics, such as clicks or VAST metrics are not counted.

Setup in EMP

Equativ provides a creative template for each mediation partner. In each creative template, you need to specify vendor specific IDs, such as Ad Unit ID or Zone ID, as well as the format, such as Banner or Interstitial. Get back to your service contact to have the mediation creative templates enabled in your network.
