Set up Google Open Bidding connection
This FAQ is only relevant for AdMob or SMB Publishers using Google Open Bidding (Google OB) and have just signed the agreement with Equativ or are about to sign it.
1) I can see that Equativ has approved my request but I don't see any ads displayed. How can I fix this?
1. Declare Equativ as an authorized seller: add the following two lines to your ads.txt/app-ads.txt file (keep in mind: the -OB
suffix is case sensitive; it must be written in upper case):
smartadserver.com, 4194-OB, RESELLER, 060d053dcf45cbf3
smartadserver.com, 4194, RESELLER, 060d053dcf45cbf3
2. Publishers using Google Ad Manager: follow the steps in Onboard online with Open Bidding.
- Add Equativ as a new bidder, keeping Google Ad Manager open while you complete the partnership agreement. This allows Equativ to receive a signal that you have completed this step in order to send an Open Bidding request.
- Configure your inventory for Equativ.
- Create a new yield group or add Equativ to an existing yield group. Equativ supports all available ad formats and inventory sizes.
3. Publishers using Google AdMob:
- Set up a bidding partnership in your account, as explained in Set up a bidding partnership in your account. To send an ad request to a bidding ad source, you must have an active partnership agreement with Equativ (formerly Smart Adserver).
- Set up a bidding ad source, as explained in Set up a bidding ad source.
- Create your ad units, as explained in Ad units, ad formats, and ad types. Equativ (formerly Smart Adserver) supports all types of ad formats and ad types.
- Create a Mediation group, as explained in Create a mediation group. If you haven’t already implemented mediation in your apps, use the Google Developer guides to implement it—see AdMob Mobile Ads SDK (iOS) and AdMob Mobile Ads SDK (Android). If you don't complete this step, mediation won't be able to fill incoming ad requests.
- Add Equativ (formerly Smart Adserver) to your Mediation groups.
2) Equativ has rejected my connection request — what is the reason?
Unfortunately, Equativ is not able to provide answers to individual publishers due to the large number of publishers. Here is a generic list of potential reasons for the rejection of your connection request:
- your content does not meet Equativ’s brand safety standards (placing ads within your content would harm advertisers’ image and reputation)
- Equativ does not operate in your country/countries or region(s)
3) Can I set specific floor prices or other rules in Equativ’s system?
No. Any settings must be made in the Google UI. To access the full set of controls as well as all direct campaign management features offered by Equativ’s platform, a standard advertising contract with Equativ is required.
4) My request is pending for quite some time. Why is that?
Equativ may still be missing some information. Please fill the form and submit it to make sure Equativ has all necessary information to approve the request. If the inventory is accepted, the process takes on average 7 days to be completed.
5) Equativ does not ask me for any billing information, how will I collect the revenues from the monetization of my inventory?
Any financial processes are handled directly by Google, as with any other bidder you may add to Open Bidding. Google will collect the revenues from Equativ and then transfer them to you.
6) I am already using Equativ through another connection type – can I link Google OB to it?
Yes, if you already have a Equativ account, please get back to your account manager at Equativ to link Google OB to your existing account.
